About Making Money From Home With Online
Surveys
If you're thinking about working from home, in your
spare time with Paid Online Surveys then you need to read the
following below:
WHAT ARE PAID SURVEYS?
Many companies that sell
consumer products need to find out about consumer behavior,
preferences and opinions about their products. The
companies want detailed surveys, as a way to improve
their products, their services and their marketing effectiveness.
Thus, the companies will
pay people to take these surveys, thus the term "paid
surveys" Even though the compensation seems high for the
people taking the surveys, these paid surveys help save
a lot of money for the companies.
AN EXAMPLE OF A PAID SURVEY.
A fast food company is deciding to
add a "low carb" menu to their 10,000 locations. The problem
is how do they know people will buy this before they invest millions
of dollars?
So instead the company will decide to
spend $50,000 on a quick survey to find out if a good percentage of
consumers will by their new "low carb" items. This is
much cheaper to test this by paying for "paid surveys" rather then
investing in all their locations before they know if they have got a
product that will sell well.
Usually, a paid survey might need
1,000 participants to test it out. So if they pay each participant $50, the total cost ($50,000)
isn't very much money to test it compared to millions upon millions
of dollars to put the product in all their locations.
WHAT'S EXPECTED OF PAID SURVEY
PARTICIPANTS
People interested in
earning money to fill out surveys must do these 3 steps:
- Register your contact information (usually just an
email address and zipcode) demographic profile with one or more
paid survey companies. Since sponsoring companies usually
only want to survey people who meet certain criteria (men, women,
younger, older, middle class, high income, urban, rural) only a
portion of the people who registered get invited to participate in
any one survey. The demographic information you provide helps the
survey company match the sponsoring company's request with
participants who've registed.
Your email address will be used to
notify you if you have been invited to participate in a survey when a match
has been made.
- Accept or Reject the invitation.
If you are invited, you then decide if you want to participate
or not in the paid survey.
- Fill out the Survey. If you decide to
participate in the paid survey, you then will click on a website link and fill out an
online form with various questions on it. Most of the questions are
multiple-choice or a simple "fill in the blank" with
one word questions. A short survey might contain 10 - 20 questions
and take only 5 minutes. A more extensive survey may contain
several dozen questions and take 30 minutes to complete.
- Get Paid. Once you fill out the survey, you
will receive your compensation.
No skills are required to be a paid survey participant. Usually
the only requirements are that you be 18 years of age and have
access to an email account (to receive invitations) and a web
browser (to fill out surveys)
HOW MUCH DO PEOPLE GET
PAID FOR TAKING THE SURVEYS?
The compensation varies; a short 5 minute surveys
will usually pay less then longer surveys. Most compensations take the form of
cash or check mailed to you. However, sometimes companies
compensate with gifts or prizes.
Usually the cash compensation surveys,
(a 5 minute paid survey) might pay
$10 - $20.
A longer survey that takes 30 minutes might pay $50 or
more.
TIPS FOR AVOIDING COMMON PITFALLS
Tip #1: Know Whether You Are
Going To Be Paid With Cash Or Prizes - Some
companies only pay cash, others only pay in prizes. If you
decide you only want
to work for cash, than avoid the paid survey companies that
only offer prizes for compensation.
Tip #2: Have realistic expectations -
There are many
companies selling the paid surveys that are doing a lot of hype,
with statements like "Make $100 an hour" "Make $200 an hour!"
These claims
are exaggerated. Sure you could make $100 an
hour, but only if you are working a full hour on a
survey. As I indicated earlier, paid surveys
pay the participant a flat fee. So if a survey pays you $50 and it
takes you 30 minutes, then technically you were paid the
equivalent of $100 per hour. However,
most all surveys are not an hour long. The keyword here is "equivalent". The reason claims like
make $100/hour can be confusing is because it assumes you're working
a full hour.
Then there are some
claims that state you can work up to 40 hours per week
if you desire. Realistically, if you are applying
a lot you might receive a paid survey invitation every
several days. So working a 40 hour week is
not realistic. Still if you are aggressive
about applying and you get several paid surveys a week
that is some decent part time money you can earn each
month.
Rating Guide For Paid Survey
Directories
Here is a rating guide to help paid survey participants
get started. These directories are listings of
numerous paid survey companies. So by signing up with one or
several of these directories, you will get a list of the paid survey
companies they recommend. Although there is no cost in applying with a paid survey company, these directories do charge a nominal
convenience fee in exchange for having access to their regularly
updated directories. This is definitely worth the
small purchase as you don't have to try and hunt down all the paid
survey companies then try and figure out which ones actually are the
best for getting accepted.
Each of these paid survey
directories contain the following:
1. Detailed info on compensation and
geographical focus of each company listed
2. Training assistance
for people just getting started

Paid Online Surveys is probably one of
the original and also the most
popular directory reviewed. It is a good
directory, but lacks the detail that Survey
